Rita Andrews

Jan. 4, 1946-April 24, 2018

Rita J. Andrews, 72, of Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 24, 2018, while in the company of family members at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana.

Rita was born in Portland, Indiana, on Jan. 4, 1946, a daughter of the late Beualah May (Greene) and Virgil C. Steed. She was the loving wife of Joseph E. Andrews who she happily married on Nov. 20, 1975.

Rita enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, cooking, dancing, drawing, painting, listening to Blues music, going to rummage sales, watching The Food Network, the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and the birds and squirrels outside her home. Rita loved the outdoors and spending time with her family and her two special Yorkie pups Abbey and Emmy. Rita was the rock of the family and is known for being the family guidance counselor, spending countless hours and late nights up talking on the phone to who ever needed a listening ear at the time. In the words of her family, "You got your wings now, but you have always had our hearts." 

She is survived by her husband Joe; two sons, Rex DeBoy (wife: Honey) and Darrin D. DeBoy; two daughters, Tracy Morgan (husband: Michael) and Stacy Harden; and one sister, Judy Derrickson, all of Albany, Indiana; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jim, Bob and Joe Steed; one sister, Phyllis Darr; and one great-grandchild Elana Hueston.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Local Autism Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel.
