CELINA, Ohio — Grant Knapke is expected to be the leader of the Tribe.
He proved his worth in the season opener Monday, but the Fort Recovery High School boys golf team fell to the Arcanum Trojans, 187-205, at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Knapke, a junior, made par on four holes and bogeyed the other five to finish with a 5-over-par 41. He was the only Indian player to break 50.
Carson Rammel was second on the team at 54, while Blayne Thobe and Derek Locthefeld tied at 55 to complete the total for Fort Recovery.
Kendall Wright of Arcanum beat Knapke by one stroke to earn match medalist honors.
Russell Gehle and Zander Kunkler also competed for the Indians, but their scores did not factor into the team total. Gehle shot 62, while Kunkler, who had one par, finished with 69.
Fort Recovery competed in the Mercer County meet at Elks this morning. Results were not available at press time.
