Richard Hardwick

Richard D. Hardwick, age 78, a resident of rural Portland in Madison Township, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at his home. 

Richard was born on March 22, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Harold Hardwick and Janette (Moore) Strait. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years. Richard was married to Delores Lairson and she passed away in 2003. 

Survivors include:

Three daughters — Rebecca Bruce, Haines City, Florida, Cindy Farmer (husband: Gary), Bartow, Florida, and Victoria Payne (husband: James), Fort Recovery, Ohio

One son — Harland Hardwick, Lakeland, Florida 

One step-daughter — Jayne Mohler, Muncie, Indiana 

Four brothers — Gary Hardwick, Portland, Indiana, William Hardwick, Saratoga, Indiana, Anthony Hardwick (wife: Stevi), Union City, Indiana, and Michael Hardwick, Union City, Indiana 

Seven sisters — Jeanie Panzurick (husband: John), Portland, Indiana, Susie Quirarte (husband: Ramiro), Ansonia, Ohio, Sherry Bentacourt (husband: George), Bowling Green, Ohio, Cindy Culler, Milford, Indiana, Margaret Mote, Union City, Indiana, Marilyn Lay (husband: Gary), St. Cloud, Florida, and Molly Keller (husband: Charles), Bryant, Indiana 

His step-mother — Doris Hardwick, rural Portland, Indiana 

Fourteen grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
