Less than two minutes in, the Patriots were already behind on the scoreboard. A couple minutes later the game was tied.
And at nearing the 10-minute mark of the opening half, the Patriots were out front.
They never trailed again.
The Jay County High School girls soccer team won for the second straight game and had season-high totals for goals and margin of victory Saturday with an 8-2 win over the Burris Owls.
Jay County (2-1) fell behind after an early goal, but Kendra Muhlenkamp tied the score at 1-all five minutes into the game. She found the back of the net three more times for consecutive games with three or more goals. She leads the team with eight goals.
Karlie Bullard tallied a goal to break the 1-1 tie, and Payton McCoy notched her second goal of the year. Eliza Bader and Hannah Phillips also scored.
Mikele Suman, Cheyenne Liette, Bader and Muhlenkamp each had assists.
Shelby Caldwell turned away seven Burris shots.

Stars win tourney
MACY — The South Adams volleyball team claimed the silver bracket title Saturday in the North Miami Tournament.
South Adams (7-3) picked up pool play wins against Caston (25-7, 25-6) and Lakeland (25-16, 25-17) around a loss to Wabash (25-19, 25-22).
In the final, the Starfires knocked off Rochester 25-13, 25-15.
Shaelynn Bowman paced the SAHS offense by totaling 20 kills on the day, and Bella Bailey tallied 16 kills while also leading the team with 40 assists.
Carlie Sealscott and Lydia Loshe contributed 14 and 13 kills respectively. Josie Grabau collected 31 assists and nine aces.

BERNE — Kristen Wynn and Madi Smith powered the South Adams girls soccer team to its first win of the season Saturday, a 4-2 triumph over the Blackford Bruins.
Wynn and Smith both scored two goals each for South Adams (1-1). Emilee Myers and Ali Smith both had an assist.
Jenna Myers made one save in goal.
South Adams meets Blackhawk Christian at 5 p.m. tonight.
