A local conservationist has released his second book, an update to a work by Gene Stratton-Porter.
Ken Brunswick has updated Stratton-Porter’s book, “What I Have Done With Birds,” which she originally published in 1907. The updated version includes information about the places around Geneva where Stratton-Porter took the photographs of birds included in the book, the topography of those areas and the birds that are present there today.
A previous work of Brunswick’s, “The Limberlost ‘Born Again’: a Lifetime to Restore Gene Stratton-Porter’s Limberlost,” was released last summer. It provides a history of Brunswick’s effort to restore and preserve the Limberlost wetlands.
Both books are available in the gift shop at the Limberlost State Historic Site, 202 E. 6th St., Geneva. Proceeds will go to wetlands conservation efforts.
