Victor McEwen

Victor Dean McEwen, 82, of Pennville, Indiana, passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Millers Merry Manor in Dunkirk, Indiana.

He was born on Thursday, May 7, 1936, in Jay County, Indiana. He married Wanda Austin. Victor was a 1954 graduate of Pennville High School.

He was a member of the Pennville Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Army.

Victor worked at Fenters Boneless Beef and retired from Jay County Highway Department. He was also a member of the Dunkirk Ralph Burgess American Legion Post #227 and Pennville I.O.O.F, and also served on the cemetery board, Lions Club, Pennville Fire Department, Indiana Volunteer Firemans' Association and the Penn Township Advisory Board. He served on the Jay Blackford 40&8 Voiture.

Victor was a Knox Township farmer. He had been a Junior League coach for many years and was an avid supporter of Jay County sports.

Loving survivors include sons Mark (Lisa) D. McEwen, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kent L. McEwen, Pennville, Indiana; daughter Cheri M. McEwen, Pennville, Indiana; sisters Lois Stewart, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Marilyn Bourne, Pennville, Indiana; brother James (Mary) McEwen, Pennville, Indiana; grandchildren Dakota Steed, St. Louis, Latrisha McEwen, Pennville, Indiana, Cody Schaadt, Decatur, Indiana, Mariah Schaadt, Bluffton, Indiana, Nicole McEwen, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Blade McEwen, Pennville, Indiana; and great-grandchild Jasper Antrim, Bluffton, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father Horace McEwen and mother Eleanor Jane (Current) McEwen.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, Indiana, on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, from 1 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018.      

A service to celebrate his life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2018. Interment will follow in the Twin Hill – I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville, Indiana.

Memorials may be dedicated to the Seth & Kristen Corwin Scholarship Fund.

Pennville Fire Department will have a walk by at 6 p.m. on Friday Aug. 31, 2018, to pay their respects.

Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier.
