JCHS should rethink decision
To the editor:
I am writing today because I am disappointed with the morals of some people within Jay County High School.
My understanding is that Jay County had a student get into some legal issues a few months ago on some very serious charges and now I hear that this student is being allowed to participate in a winter sport after serving a suspension.
What message are we sending our students and athletes if we allow this student to participate in an after school activity?
We have to start holding the younger generation accountable for their actions and sending the message that these types of actions will have real consequences.
I urge the adults who have the power over this situation to rethink their stance on this issue and do what should’ve been done in the first place, allow the student to get his diploma but do not let him represent all of Jay County in an athletic capacity.
Again, what type of message are we sending our youth?
Sincerely,
William Jones
