Luncheon set for Thursday
South Adams Senior Center will have its annual community Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Diane Winteregg of Summer Kitchen in Berne will cater the meal, and the South Adams High School a cappella choir will perform. Cost is $7. Call (260) 589-8877 to make a reservation.
The center is located at 825 Hendricks St., Berne.
Bring the family
Jay County Historical Society will hold its Family Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St., Portland.
Santa Claus will visit for the event. It will also include a scavenger hunt and crafts.
The museum also has 20 decorated Christmas trees on display.
The museum will also hold an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15.
The historical society is also collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the Trinity United Methodist Church food pantry.
Offering grants
Indiana Humanities is offering four grant options and hosting workshops and a webinar to help those interested in applying. The following grants will be available:
•Action Grant — Up to $3,000 for “projects that help people learn new information, consider different perspectives, share ideas and understand one another better"
•Historic Preservation Education Grant — Up to $2,500 for “programs that educate the community about historic places and properties”
•Innovation Grant — Up to $10,000 for “programs that introduce new ideas, utilize unique approaches and/or reach underserved audiences”
•Collaboration Grant — Up to $20,000 for non-profit groups that deliver in-depth public humanities programming.
