John Alexander

John Elvin Alexander, 56, of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room after suffering an apparent heart attack while at work.
He was born on Friday, June 15, 1962, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Joe L. Alexander and Sarah (Kraner) Rhoades. He married Michele Hart on Sept. 18, 1982, at East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville and she survives.
John was currently employed at Thunderbird Products in Decatur as a welder. He was the former owner/operator of Johnny's Restaurant in Monroeville. After he sold the restaurant, he was a truck driver for JADE Trucking in Monroeville until he returned to Thunderbird. This was his second time of employment at Thunderbird. Before he became involved with the restaurant, he was employed for over 25 years at Thunderbird as a power and propulsion specialist.
He enjoyed the traveling that came with this job, especially to Florida. His children have fond memories of the numerous trips to the airport where they would either drop off or pickup John from one of his trips.
Spending time with his family was very important to John. His children enjoyed the memories that were created over the years. John also had a hobby of rebuilding cars. He would buy a car to make it go faster than when he got it. He enjoyed motorcycles and spent time riding whenever he could. He had quite the eclectic taste enjoying loud motors in addition to loud colors.
John was a former member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville. He was a 1980 graduate of Heritage High School.
Survivors include his wife, Michele Alexander of Monroeville; daughter Stacy (Mike) Scott of Fort Wayne; daughter Carmen Hutchinson of Monroeville; daughter Kimberly (Mark) Stahl of Auburn; daughter Krisha (Justin) Binder of Hicksville, Ohio; mother Sarah (Lynn) Rhoades of Monroeville; father Joe L. Alexander of Monroeville; brother Tracy Alexander of Monroeville; brother Randy (Gail) Alexander of Monroeville; step-grandmother Edna (Kraner) Travis of Dayton, Ohio; step-brother Kevin (Andrea) Rhoades of Missoula, Montanta; mother-in-law Carolyn Hart of Monroeville; seven grandsons, Michael Scott Jr., Shea Hutchinson Jr., Carson Hutchinson, Miles Scott, Huck Stahl, Brett Binder and baby John Binder due in May.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home-Jacobs Chapel with Rev. Harold Klinker officiating. Interment will be in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home Jacobs Chapel Monroeville, Indiana, and one hour prior to services Wednesday also at the funeral home.
