Marilyn S. Loyd

Marilyn S. Loyd, age 82, a resident of Portland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at her home.

She and her husband owned and operated George Loyd Construction for many years. She worked in accounting at Naas Foods in Portland for 23 years and then with Patriot Paint Co.

She was a member of the Portland American Legion Auxiliary, Portland Moose Lodge, and the Jay County Democrat Women.

Marilyn Loyd was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Minch) Strohl. She was married to George Loyd and he passed away October 11, 2010.

Survivors include:

One son — Randy Loyd (wife: Julie), Portland, Indiana

One daughter — Cheri Loyd, South Haven, Missippi

One daughter-in-law — Laurie Loyd, Portland, Indiana

One brother — Joe Bill Strohl (wife: Dinah), Redkey, Indiana

One sister — Carolyn Thomas (husband: Wayne), Gaston, Indiana

Nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a son, Greg Loyd in 2002.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Phil Jellison will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
