Mark Hein
Mark H. Hein, age 85, of Coldwater, Ohio, died Dec. 18, 2018, at Mercer Health, Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born April 23, 1933, in St. Sebastian, Ohio, to the late Aloys and Josephine (Wolters) Hein. On May 26, 1954, he married Irene (Kaup) Hein, who survives.
Also surviving are his eight children, Dan (Joyce) Hein of New Weston, Kathy (Ralph) Bihn of Fort Loramie, Sharon (Dan) Wellman of Coldwater, Karen (John) Wenning of Centerville, Mary Lou (Brad) Daniels of Portland, Tim (Laurie) Hein of Portland, Theresa (Dan) Wendel of Fort Recovery and Mike (Joyce) Hein of St. Henry; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hein of New Weston; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sister Margie Bertke of Celina; brother-in-law Norbert Garman of Chickasaw; and in-laws Bernie Kaup of Fort Recovery, Dale (Donna) Kaup of St. Anthony and Floyd (Joyce) Kaup of Celina.
Preceding him in death were son Dave Hein and infant son Joseph; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings Priscilla Garman and James Hein, and infant brother Dennis Hein; brother-in-law Don Bertke; and in-laws Adrian Kaup, Alvin and Alma Kaup, and Virginia Kaup.
Mark was a 1951 graduate of the former St. John High School, Maria Stein. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed at the former Mersman Tables, Celina, for 47 years and also farmed.
He was a life member of both the American Legion Post 345 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6515, both of Fort Recovery. Mark was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter, Ohio.
Mark enjoyed playing cards and watching his favorite teams, the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter, with Fr. Ned Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Brockman–Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
