For most of his collegiate career, Sawyer Miller has been ranked among the best in the nation.
It wasn’t until recently he received conference recognition.
Miller, a 2015 South Adams High School graduate, was named Sooner Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 10.
It is the first time he’s gotten the honor.
The Indiana Tech senior, who is ranked third in NAIA at 125 points, was undefeated on Dec. 8 in the Indiana Tech Warrior Duals by knocking off a pair of top-five opponents. He beat No. 4 Jordan Martinez of Cambellsville before defeating top-ranked Hayden Lee of University of the Cumberlands.
Miller (10-2) scored a 7-3 upset of Lee, and recorded an escape and a takedown to beat Martinez.

Has been a steady contributor to the University of Saint Francis women’s basketball team as she has averaged nearly five points per game in three straight Cougar victories.
The sophomore had six points on Wednesday as the NAIA Division II No. 25 Cougars defeated NAIA Division I No. 5 Cambellsville 76-75 in the second day of the Walters Auto Classic at East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was 2-of-3 with a 3-pointer and a free throw while also grabbing two rebounds and notching two blocked shots. A day earlier in a 68-65 win over Pikeville, Will had five points, two rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Will also recorded three points and a career-high eight rebounds as the Cougars (10-5, 3-2 Crossroads League) defeated Bethel College 83-71 on Dec. 8.

S. Adams – 2018
Scored in double figures for the fifth straight game on Wednesday as the Anderson University women’s basketball team suffered a 72-66 loss to Eureka.
She was 3-of-13 from the field and a stellar 12-of-14 from the free-throw line to finish with 18 points. She also had six rebounds, four assists and three steals, as she pushed her scoring average to 16 points per game.
The freshman also scored 12 points and hauled in five boards on Sunday as the Ravens (5-6, 1-3 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) lost to Transylvania, 82-47.
Tyler Leonhard
Jay County – 2017
Went 2-2 for the Manchester University wrestling team as it competed in the Gator “Boots” Duals on Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee.
The 174-pound sophomore defeated Simpson’s Damon Piatt by a 2-0 decision as the Spartans won, 33-14. Against Luther’s Michael Suarez, Leonhard dropped an 8-2 decision in MU’s 36-7 defeat.
Leonhard then bounced back by edging Elmhurst’s Nevin Brittain 6-5 in a 27-16 Manchester triumph before getting pinned in the first period by Wilmington’s Ethan Cyrette. The Spartans won that dual, 46-12.
Catherine Dunn
Jay County – 2015
Reached double figures for the second straight game for the Brescia University women’s basketball team in a 65-53 victory against Midway on Dec. 8.
The senior was 5-of-14 from the field and split a pair of free throws to finish with 11 points, one game after totaling a career-high 21 points.
Dunn also grabbed four rebounds, dished three assists and had three steals for the Bearcats (3-10, 202 River States Conference).

Jay County – 2018
Scored a career-high eight points for the Anderson University women’s basketball team in a 76-73 overtime win over Mount St. Joseph on Dec. 8.
The freshman guard was 3-of-6 from the field and made both of her free throws. She also grabbed a career high five rebounds and dished a pair of assists for the Ravens.
