Sanford Jacobs

Sanford T. Jacobs, 89, of Dunkirk, Indiana, formerly of Tennessee, passed away at 2 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, while in the company of family members at Miller's Merry Manor in Dunkirk, Indiana.

Sanford was born in Tennessee on June 14, 1929, a son of the late Frona and Walter Jacobs. He attended Noah School in Tennessee and was a hard-working farmer his entire life.

Sanford was the loving husband of Bessie L. Jacobs, who he happily married on Dec. 30, 1946. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, whittling, playing the banjo and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Sanford is survived by two sons: Thomas Jacobs (wife: Kathy) and Howard Jacobs (wife: Rita); one daughter, Mary Louise Shory (husband: William); two brothers, Justin Jacobs (wife: Betty) and Joe Jacobs (wife: Lorriane); a sister, Cleo Banks; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; lovely wife Bessie; two sons, Glen and Kevin Jacobs; several brothers; and an infant sister.

Friends are invited to call Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, from 2 to 3 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Dunkirk Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Beach Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Old Cemetery near Manchester, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
