FORT RECOVERY — The Indians were denied a winning streak Friday.
They were on the verge of another defeat Saturday, but a rally in the last eight minutes prevented a losing weekend.
Fort Recovery High School'sboys basketball team outscored the Ansonia Tigers 25-8 in the final period for a 55-46 victory.
The Indians (4-3) led 13-10 after the first quarter but trailed by one at halftime. The Tigers (3-3) used a 13-6 margin to take a 38-30 advantage into the final period before the Indians used the free-throw line grab the lead and seal the victory.
Fort Recovery finished 19-of-26 from the stripe, including 14-for-19 in the final eight minutes. Payton Jutte, who led all players with 30 points, was 8-of-11 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Junior leads Tribe
ARCANUM, Ohio — Fort Recovery'sgirls basketball team outlasted the Arcanum Trojans on Saturday for a 40-36 victory.
The Indians (4-3) grabbed a 14-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead by one at halftime. The teams played even in the second half for the final margin.
Val Muhlenkamp totaled 17 points to lead the Indians. It was the third such game this season she had 17 or more points. Paige Fortkamp matched her career high of 11 points, and Kierra Wendel followed with six points.
Fort Recovery's junior varsity team lost, 47-33. Whitley Rammel's 11 points were top son the team, while Faith Grube and Hope Wendel tallied six points each.
Braves bury Stars
FORT WAYNE — A strong second half for the Blackhawk Christian Braves was too much for the South Adams girls basketball team as it lost 50-39 Saturday.
The Starfires (5-7) fell behind 12-9 after one quarter and got within two at halftime, 18-16. But the Braves (7-9) pushed the advantage to seven points with one quarter to play before pulling away.
Kristen Wynn scored 11 points for South Adams and Lydia Loshe joined her in double figures with 10 points. Madi Smith's nine pointswas third on the team and Madi Smith chipped in nine points.
The South Adams junior varsity team won, 31-27. Makayla Hamrick led the Stars with 13 points and Macie Hirschy tallied nine points.
