James Hendricks
James “Jimmy” Hendricks, age 75, a resident of Portland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at his home in Portland.
Jimmy was born on June 1, 1942, in Portland the son of Joe and Dorothy (Mann) Hendricks. Jimmy graduated from Muncie Central High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked locally for Fort Recovery Industries for several years and Marsh in Indianapolis.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting and enjoying time in nature. He also enjoyed spending time at the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show in Portland.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He attended Bryant Wesleyan Church. Jimmy married Peggy Hon on Sept. 6, 1991.

Five daughters — Lisa Day (husband: James), Indianapolis, Indiana, Sara Morris (husband: Jeremy), Indianapolis, Indiana, Susie Underwood (husband: Keith), Florence, Kentucky, Charlotte Faulkner (husband: Rick), Covington, Kentucky, and Bonnie Rickert (husband: Brian), Florence, Kentucky
One brother — Ronald Hendricks (wife: Sandy), Portland, Indiana
One sister — Scherlene Brown (husband: Robert), Union City, Indiana
Several nieces and nephews.
Nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bryant Wesleyan Church in Bryant with Pastor Paul VanCise officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Bryant Wesleyan Church Kids Club or Go Pantry in Boone County Kentucky, or the donor’s choice of children’s charity.
