Ivy Tech is offering tutoring at John Jay
Taking Note
Ivy Tech Community College is offering tutoring at John Jay Center for Learning, 101 S. Meridian St. in Portland.
Tutoring is available in English, psychology sociology, art, music, theater appreciation and medical topics and will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday by Valerie Cooper in Room 204 of JJCL.
Test proctor services are also available at John Jay. Contact your school to check if they allow an off campus proctor for exams or call Carolyn Carducci at (260) 729-5525 or email [email protected].
English Language Learners classes, for those who speak English as a second language to improve written, communication and social skills, are held from 7 to 8 p.m. each Monday and 4 to 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday at JJCL.
The instructor is Susie DeRome and assistants are Agnes Howell and Cheryl Ruiz. For more information, call (260) 729-5525.
Coldwater classes
Classes will be held at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
A weekend childbirth education class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday; infant massage classes will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 8; and a mom support group will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Feb. 8 and 22.

Dean’s list
Wesley Wenning, Fort Recovery, was named to the fall 2017 semester dean’s list at Ashland (Ohio) University. He is a 2016 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and is majoring in intervention specialist education.
John Bihn, Briget Pottkotter, Adam Schmitz and Abigail Wenning, all of Fort Recovery, were named to the fall semester dean’s list at Edison State Community College.
Rachel Post, Fort Recovery, was named to the fall 2017 dean’s list at The University of Akron. She is majoring in biomedical engineering/biomech coop.
Emily Jobe, Pennville, was named to the dean’s list for semester one at University of Indianapolis.
She is the daughter of Brian and Lisa Jobe.
Open house
Swiss Village in Berne will have a Valentine open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 14.
Featured will be Lower Langfeld, newly renovated residential living apartments, that have a kitchenette, a living area, separate bedroom, patio and some with a den.
Lower Langfeld also provides three meals a day, weekly housekeeping and al a carte service.
