Marvin Koenig

Marvin F. Koenig, 79, of Woodburn, Indiana, formerly of rural Jay County (Portland) passed away at 5:53 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1938, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He married Ruth (Klima) Koenig on Saturday, Aug. 6, 1966, in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Marvin attended Bryant High School. He was a lifetime farmer of Wabash Township, Jay County, Indiana. Marvin was a member of St. Joseph Men’s Sodality. He enjoyed working outside, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Loving survivors include his wife Ruth (Klima) Koenig, Woodburn, Indiana, son Mark (Kim) Koenig, New Haven, Indiana, daughter Karen (Richard) Reinhart, Bryant, Indiana, son Kevin (fiance: Angela) Koenig, New Haven, Indiana, son Bevan (companion: Suzanne) Koenig, Linn Grove, Indiana, daughter Sarah Koenig, Troy, Ohio, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father Henry F. Koenig and mother Mary (Eischen) Koenig.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, from 4 to 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held prior to calling at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home. There will be a calling from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.

A service to celebrate Marvin’s life will be at Holy Trinity Church 7321 E. Indiana 67 Bryant, Indiana, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, with Fr. Ken Alt officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Bryant.

Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
