FR library to host painting event
Taking Note
A local artist will teach a painting class at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Recovery Public Library, 113 N. Wayne St.
Angie Clark will help participants create a design and then make a barn quilt painting.
The cost is $30. To register, call the library at (419) 375-2869.
An Adult Reading Challenge is taking place at the library for those 50 and older. For each book checked out, an entry form can be filled out to win weekly prizes. A Kindle Fire will be given as a grand prize on March 2.
Unlock The Box event continues through Feb. 19 at the library. Passports for the Winter Olympic Games closing ceremonies are locked in the box and the keys will be given to participants who solve puzzles. Call the library to register.
Honor man
Brennan Rhinehart graduated from basic training with the United States Marine Corps on Dec. 1, 2017 and received the honor man medal.
He was chosen for the honor out of 500 recruits. Rhinehart is a 2017 graduate of Jay County High School and is the son of John and Angela Rhinehart of Bryant.
Ag conference
The Midwest Women in Ag Conference will be held Feb. 20 to 22 at Horizon Convention Center in Muncie.
Presenters will be Purdue Extension director Jason Henderson, Katie Dilse, Farm Credit Mid-America, the Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Farm Bureau.
There will also be opportunities to network with Purdue Extension educators.
The cost for the Feb. 20 pre-conference is $30 or $15 with conference registration. The cost for Feb. 21 only is $90 and $100 for both days if registered before Feb. 5. After that date, the cost is $125 and $150 respectively.

College Goal Sunday
Free FAFSA help will be available at College Goal Sunday on Feb. 25.
The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at John Jay Center for Learning, 101 S. Meridian St. in Portland. Bring 2016 taxes and W-2 forms for parents and students.
