Winners named at area elementaries
Winners of the Optimist Oratorical Speech Contest were recently named at Bloomfield and General Shanks elementaries.
At Bloomfield the Optimist girl winner was Morgan DeHoff, the fifth grade daughter of Mark and Jenny DeHoff, and the boy winner was Matthew Wengerd, the fifth grade son of Jacob and Rebecca Wengerd.
The runner-up for the girls was fifth grader Rosie Eicher, the daughter of Toby and Rosa Eicher, and the boy runner-up was fifth grader Jase Walter, the son of Jesse and Andrea Walter.
At General Shanks the Optimist girl winner was Aubrey Millspaugh and the boy winners was Kade Sommers, both fifth grade students.
Alternates were Rihanna Hartman and AJ Meyers, also fifth graders.
The spelling bee winner at Bloomfield was Daisy Muhlenkamp.
She is a fifth grade student and the daughter of Troy and Krista Muhlenkamp.
The runner-up was fourth grader Max Dues. He is the son of Ben and Jamie Dues.
Choir forming
Arts Place is forming an adult choir as part of its MusicWorks program.
Registrations are being accepted for “A Choired Taste, The Community Choir of Arts Place” for adults and high school students.
Participants should be able to read music and match tones.
Rehearsals will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Monday from March 5 through April 23 and a public performance will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25.
Tuition cost is $15 and forms are available at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. or at artsland.org.
Receives scholarships
Students at the University of Findlay (Ohio) were awarded endowed scholarships.
Elijah Kahlig, Fort Recovery, received the Thomas B. Donnell Business Leadership Scholarship.
Casey Shannon, Bryant, received the Donald Knepper Scholarship, Frederick Kremer Jr. Scholarship Endowment Fund, Shiv K. Gupta Business Scholarship, the Richard L. Bundy Sr. ’59, Geneva J. (Keck) Bundy ’44 and Melissa M. (Bundy) Crowl ’01 Scholarship.
