James Miles

James L. (Jim) Miles, 75, of Ridgeville, Indiana, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, while in the company of family members at his residence.

Jim was born in Hartford City, Indiana, on Aug. 12, 1942, a son of the late Mildred (Flatter) and Cepha Miles. He was a 1961 graduate of Montpelier High School and happily married Judith (Chalfant) Miles on Nov. 10, 1963.

He was a lifetime member of Fairview UMC in Fairview, Indiana, and was employed as a union carpenter. He was a 50-year member of Local 1016 Muncie, Indiana, and worked for Miles Mowing. He loved tractors, tinkering outdoors, woodworking and spending time with his family and his dog Diesel.

Jim is survived by his lovely wife Judy; a son, Rodney Miles (wife: Stacy); two daughters, Rhonda Detweiler (husband: John) and JoDee Miller (husband: Jerry); a brother, Larry George Miles; a sister, Judy Davis (husband: Basil); six grandchildren, Bryce Miller, Connor Detweiler (wife: Olivia), Brayton Miller (wife: Sophie), Christopher Miles, Courtney Miles and Natalie Miles; and one great-grandchild, Zander Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Miles.

A celebration of life service will be held on Feb. 25, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church, Fairview, Indiana, with Pastors Angela Smiley and Jonathan Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to State of the Heart Hospice or Fairview United Methodist Church, 11048 W. Indiana 28, Redkey, IN 47373.
