Robert L. Jackson, age 55, 129 East Lafayette St., Portland, passed away Tuesday in Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Portland on July 21, 1962, the son of Jim Jackson and Marilyn Zerkel. He worked with horses and was a loving and attentive uncle and wonderful brother, and had a huge heart. He was a member of Portland Evening Optimists, attended The Rock Church and was a 1981 Jay County High School graduate.
Surviving are his father Jim Jackson (wife Vera) of Portland; his mother Marilyn Shaneyfelt (husband: Dale) of Portland; a brother, Doug Jackson (wife: Debbie) of Portland; three sisters, Jane Newhouse (husband: Bill) of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Barbara Stahley of Portland, and Sandy Love of Bluffton; and several nieces and nephews, and step-brothers and step-sisters.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in The Rock Church with Pastor Mark Hinshaw presiding.Family will receive guests from 1 to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Rock Church. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
