Max E. Bedwell, 90, Dunkirk, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at his residence in Dunkirk.
He was born on Friday, April 15, 1927, in Montpelier, Indiana. He married Sandra Conley on Sunday, Sept. 13,1953 in Dunkirk, Indiana.
Max was a 1946 graduate of Montpelier High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He served with the Air National Guard out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a member of the Blackford-Jay Voiture 40 & 8 and was a past president of the Montpelier Alumni Association.
Max was a past commander of the Ralph Burgess American Legion Post No. 227 Dunkirk where he was a member for many years. He retired from Kerr Glass in Dunkirk.

A daughter — Julie (George) A. Adkins, Dunkirk
A son — Tony (Amanda) G. Bedwell, New Palestine, Indiana
Brothers — Jim (June) Bedwell, Sevierville, Tennessee, and Dexter (Bonnie) Bedwell, Marion, Indiana
Grandchildren — Sandra (Kortney) Bowlan, Dunkirk, Matthew Bedwell, Whiteland, Indiana, and Hayley (Nick) Ivers, Austin, Texas
A great-grandson — Kenaan Bowlan, Dunkirk
Three step-great-grandsons and three step-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Truman Truman, mother Helen Garnet (Pence) Bedwell, wife Sandra Jean (Conley) Bedwell, sister Nona Volz, brother Harold Bedwell and sister Peg Stairs.
A service to celebrate Max’s life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Feb. 27, with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier, Indiana, on Feb. 26 from 2 to 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to services Feb. 27.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Ralph Burgess American Legion Post No. 227 and the U.S. Navy.
