Lorrene Garringer, 99, Winchester, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Summers Pointe in Winchester. She was born on Nov. 16, 1918, in Randolph County to Oscar and Ethel (Byrum) Harris.
Lorrene was a graduate of Saratoga High School. She was a homemaker and worked at the Driver Middle School cafeteria for 27 years. She attended the Congregation Christian Church. Lorrene was also a member of the Sugar and Spice Home Extension Club and the Y’s Owls in Winchester.
Lorrene is survived by her children, Richard (Ruth) Garringer of Beattyville, Kentucky, Mary (James) Thornburg of Winchester, Robert (Tana) Garringer of North Salem, Indiana, and Marjorie (Douglas) Connor of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; two sisters, Margaret Ramsey of Converse, Indiana, and Jeannie Flesher of Portland, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her death by her parents; her husband, Thurman Garringer; and four brothers, Rexford Harris, Isom Harris, Robert Harris and Norvel Harris.
Funeral services for Lorrene will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Walker Funeral Home, Winchester, with Junior Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, as well as an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in Lorrene’s name can be made to the donor’s choice.
