Chad Derrickson

Chad Derrickson, age 46, of rural Portland, passed away Thursday morning at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born in Portland on Feb. 21, 1971, the son of Ray and Karen (Retter) Derrickson. He had worked at several factories, including FCC, Berne Tube and Jay Products. He was a 1991 Jay County High School graduate, active in Judan Judo and an avid Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Surviving are two sons Dyllan Derrickson and Dakota Derrickson both of Portland; sister Lisa Derrickson of Portland; brother Jeff Derrickson of Houston; step-father Tom Robbins of Portland; companion Stacy Schull of Portland; niece Kileigh Derrickson; and great-niece Hendrix Elaine.

Preceding him in death were his father, Ray Derrickson, and mother, Karen Retter-Robbins.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon Taylor presiding. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family to help with expenses.
