Abby Wendel and Catherine Dunn shared the court for three years while at Jay County.
The first time they met on a college court, Dunn had the advantage despite her team coming up short.
It was Wendel’s time to shine in round two.
Wendel, a 2016 Jay County High School graduate, and her University of Rio Grande women’s basketball team got the best of Dunn, a 2015 JCHS graduate, and her Brescia Bearcats in a 90-43 win on Jan. 4.
Wendel, a sophomore, made all five of her shots, including both of her 3-pointers, and split a pair of free throws to finish with 13 points. She also had five rebounds, dished four assists and notched a steal.
Dunn was 5-of-13 from the field, also with a pair of 3-pointers, as she led the Bearcats with a dozen points. She also had three rebounds and a steal.
Wendel scored 10 points and had two rebounds on Saturday as the NAIA No. 4 Red Storm (17-1, 6-0 River States Conference) beat IU-Southeast for their 15th-straight win.
Dunn, a junior, scored 25 points on Tuesday as the Bearcats (7-11, 4-3 RSC) defeated Cincinnati Christian 65-54. She also had a 17-point effort on Saturday in a 65-59 win over West Virginia Tech.

Contributed to the Ball State University women’s swim team on Friday as it had three dual defeats in a meet with Indianapolis, Xavier and host IUPUI.
Bader finished third in the 200-yard individual medley, was fourth in the 200 butterfly and fifth in the 100 butterfly.
Vormohr’s best finish was in the 100 freestyle as she placed fifth. She was also 10th in the 50 freestyle and anchored the 400 freestyle A relay team that was fifth.
Vormohr and Bader swam the backstroke and butterfly legs respectively during the 200 medley B relay that was ninth.
Sawyer Miller
South Adams – 2015
Went 3-2 for the Indiana Tech wrestling team as it competed in the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals on Jan. 4 and 5 in Fort Wayne.
The 125-pound junior won all three of his matches on Jan. 4. He had a 9-1 major decision over Keyshawn Laws of Cumberland (Tennessee). Then he scored another major decision, 12-4, over Khaleel Johnson of Williams Baptist before a 14-0 major decision against Rafael Vargas of Midland (Nebraska).
Miller (17-6) , who is ranked second in all of NAIA, dropped a 10-4 decision to Camblesville’s Jordan Martinez on Jan. 5 before losing by tech fall, 17-1, to top-ranked Hayden Lee of Cumberlands (Kentucky).

Played a small part in a pair of wins recently for the Indiana Tech men’s basketball team.
He was 2-of-10 from the field and made both of his free throws on Saturday as the Warriors defeated University of Northwestern Ohio 76-60. He also had seven rebounds and an assist.
On Wednesday, the senior had three points and three rebounds for the NAIA Division II No. 5 Warriors (17-3, 8-1 Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference) in their 83-73 overtime win over Rochester.

Helped the University of the Cumberlands women’s swim team finish first Saturday in the South Georgia College Sprint Meet.
She was eighth in the 100-yard individualmedley, and 10th in both the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly .
The junior swam the first leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay with a split time of 26.53 seconds. She also swam the freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay that was fourth.
UC scored 224 points for first place.

Contributed to the University of Findlay men’s basketball team as it pushed its winning streak to a dozen games on Saturday with a 65-59 victory over Lake Erie.
Kahlig took just three shots, made one 3-pointer and had split a pair of free throws for four points. He also had two assists for the NCAA Division II No. 21 Oilers (16-2, 10-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference).

Came off the bench for the University of Saint Francis women’s basketball team in a pair of recent losses.
She was 1-of-4 for two points with a rebound and a steal in a 62-58 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday.
She also had three points as the Cougars (11-8, 3-4 Crossroads League) lost to Huntington 69-57 on Wednesday.
