Margaret D. Dick, age 84, of Berne, and former Portland resident, passed away Monday morning at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born in Burnside, Kentucky, Aug. 9, 1933, the daughter of Forrest and Delitha (Shadoan) Bryant. She was married Dec. 31, 1957, to Charlie Dick and he died June 1, 1979. She was a homemaker and had worked at Jay Garment and Pennville Custom Cabinets. She attended United Church of God in Indianapolis.
Surviving are two sons, Charles W. Dick of Berne and John L. Dick (wife: Dawn) of Portland; five daughters, Kay Wendel (husband: Tim) of Celina, Mary Betz (husband: Bob) of Somerset, Kentucky, Ann Adair of Geneva, Stella Bessesen (husband: Ted) of Pennville and Phoebe Robinette of Portland; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastors Scott Moss and Bart Bornhoust presiding. Burial will follow in the Wells Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from noon to 3 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
