Jim McCord
Jim R. McCord, age 70, passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, at his home in rural Portland.
He was born Jan. 8, 1948, in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Glenn and Rosemary (Fleener) McCord. He was married Jan. 20, 1973, to Mary Chappuis, who survives.
He had been owner and operator of McCord’s 5 & 10 in Redkey, Dunkirk, Geneva, Albany and Eaton and also was a real estate appraiser and real estate broker.
He was a member, trustee and elder in the First Presbyterian Church, member of Portland Rotary Club, board member of Jay-Randolph Developmental Services and Arts Place, 1966 Redkey High School graduate and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University.
Surviving are his wife Mary; two sons, Matt McCord of Indianapolis and Tom McCord of Orlando, Florida; one brother, Mike McCord (wife: Pamela) of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister, Mary Alice McCord Gregory of Mount Dora, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rex Espiritu presiding. Family will receive guests from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
