Burl Duane McCord
Burl Duane McCord, 86, of Ridgeville, Indiana, passed away at 3 a.m., Saturday, July 7.
Burl was born in Muncie, Indiana, on Feb. 7, 1932, a son of the late Mary Beulah (Sims) and Elmer Ted McCord.
He attended Full Gospel Temple, Muncie, Indiana.
He worked as a assembly man at Delco-Remy Battery Muncie, Indiana, for 40 years.
Burl was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 507, Ridgeville, and a former member of F&AM Albany Lodge.
He was the widower of Judy E. (Bond) McCord who he happily married Nov. 18, 1951.
Burl loved to tell jokes, play cards, play bingo, fish, hunt and take part in all family events, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burl is survived by a son, Steve McCord of Plant City, Florida; six grandchildren, Tony (wife: Paula) Nichols of Brandon, Florida, David (wife: Candice) McCord of Riverveiw, Florida, Kenny (wife: Shelley) McCord of Seffner, Florida, Michael Christopher (wife: Teresa) McCord of Indianapolis, Indiana, Todd (wife: Rhoda) Flowers of Yorktown, Indiana, and Tracey McCord (companion: Tyler Davis) of Muncie, Indiana; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn, wife of Jim Rutledge of Farmland, Indiana; four brothers, Joseph McCord of Winchester, Indiana, Daniel, husband of Marge McCord, of Farmland, Indiana, Leon, husband of Joyce McCord, of Ridgeville, Indiana, and Monty, husband of Vickie McCord, of Winchester, Indiana.
In addition to his loving wife Judy, he was preceded in death by sons Michael E. McCord and Murl D. McCord; brothers Alfred, Melvin, Robert, Darrell, Bennie, Ronnie and Orville; and sisters Mary Lavenia Bogue and Frieda Frey.
Friends may call at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon.
Funeral services will be held in Calvary UMC, Ridgeville, at noon on Wednesday, July 11, with Br. Denny Hilton and Pastor Sylvia Stong officiating.
Graveside Services will follow in Reitenour Cemetery Ridgeville, Indiana.
Memorials may be given to State of the heart Hospice, Ridgeville American Legion Post 507 or Calvary United Methodist Church in care of MJS Mortuaries – Ridgeville Chapel.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Ridgeville Chapel.
