Tankers win the finale
Summer swimmers use its depth for big victory
UNION CITY — Much of the swim team’s success this year has been a result of its depth.
A dominating victory Tuesday resumed the theme.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team had 36 swimmers win at least one event, took first in all 20 relays and all but three individual races in a 1,116-261 win over Union City.
Jay County finished the dual portion of its season a perfect 7-0, and hosts the Wabash Valley Conference Championships on Saturday.
Raif Beiswanger (8-and-younger – long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle), Lauren Fisher (9-10-year-old – long freestyle, butterfly and backstroke), Maddy Snow (9-10-year-old – individual medley, breaststroke and short freestyle), Matthew Fisher (9-10-year-old – butterfly, IM and short freestyle) and Mara Bader (13-14-year-old – 200 freestyle, butterfly and individual medley) all won three events.
Picking up two wins apiece were Maria Laux, Alex Miller, Sophie Saxman, Morgan DeHoff, Hannah Laux, Creed Beiswanger, Elayna Paro, Konner Sommers, Elizabeth McDowell, Rieley Brewster, Vivienne Kunkler, Jason Minnich and Chase McFarland.
Addisyn Champ earned a victory in the 8-and-younger butterfly for the first win of her career. Other individual winners were Kaitlyn Fisher, Jordyn Champ, Kenna Arnold, Rockland Beiswanger, Jacob Monroe, Branden Kegley, George Clemmons, Cohen Henry, Joseph Dow, Daniel Fennig, Ben Nichols, Dorane Beiswanger, Damian Hicks, Braxton Malott, Carter Henry, Bode Malott and Griffin Mann.
The following had individual wins on Monday against Bellmont but were inadvertantly omitted from Tuesday’s newspaper: Colt Pennington, Jordyn Champ, Maddy Snow, Maria Laux, Samuel Wiggins and Kaitlyn Fisher.
