Thank you for help in time of need
To the editor:
Without question or any motive, Sheriff Dwane Ford and his two deputies reflected the definition of being a good samaritan and serving officers of the law, without being asked and even after I wasn’t the kindest civilian to be dealt with.
I had been released from Jay County Hospital at 1 a.m. and had roughly a 2-mile walk home. And I was too dizzy, weak and nauseated to ride my blue giant bicycle home. I made it, somehow, to the Jay County Correctional Facility to rest on its steps, and needed to rest again from dangerous sugar levels and heat exhaustion.
I woke up to Sheriff Dwane Ford and two deputies asking me about my well being. Well, if anyone knows a diabetic, sometimes we aren’t very pleasant to deal with even if someone is simply showing us concern when it’s probably most certainly needed and maybe even a life and death situation. Just know your help and concern is greatly appreciated.
While I’m on the kick of tooting the horn of some do-gooders running around this town going unnoticed, thank you so much to my two co-workers for covering my shift while I barely made it to the hospital. Candy Armstrong and DeDe Bisel, you two crazy but good ladies kept watch over me and made sure I was going to be taken care of.
A huge shout out to the staff at Jay County Hospital for very excellent care and concern for the crazed diabetic lady once again, especially with being completely full in the emergency room and dealing with several complicated medical emergencies.
Thank you to all involved in taking care of a grouchy but grateful diabetic semi-nutcase.
Sincerely,
Ashley Bradley
Portland
P.S. — Sheriff Dwane Ford, you have my my vote. Thanks for my first police escort that was taking me home and not to jail.
