Addition tops the list of permits
Building permits were issued for almost $700,000 in new construction in June by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Office.
The largest project is a residential addition at 1601 W. 100 South for Roger Domingo for $200,000.
The next largest projects at $140,000 each were a new home for Allen and Stacie Walter, 842 N. 500 West, and construction of a cabin at 1514 N. 200 West for William D. Speed.
Greg and Kelly Hemmelgarn were issued a permit for a $45,000 pool and storage building project at 455 E. 300 South.
Benjamin Eicher was issued a permit for a $20,000 barn on county road 500 North. Theurer & Sons Farm Inc. was issued a permit for a $20,000 pole building at 7032 S. 700 East.
Other permits were issued to Monte Shrack for a $1,000 building lean-to at 2325 S. 400 West, Chris Grieshop for a $10,000 fence at the Greazy Pickle, 211 W. Main St., Portland, Amos S. Schwartz for a $10,000 fish pond on county road 750 East, Fred Whipple for a $1,000 residential addition at 771 W. 400 South, Leticia Duenez and Juan Hernandez for a $600 project to rebuild their porch at 109 Green Park Drive, Portland, Ray Scott for rebuilding and repairing decks for $800 at 166 N. Washington St., Pennville, Charles McCormick for a $13,000 pole building at 2407 S. Indiana 167, Dunkirk, and George Patterson for a $5,000 open shelter at 905 Blaine Pike, Portland.

Temporary occupancy permits were issued to Boomer’s Fireworks at 1510 N. Meridian St., Portland, We Got Fireworks at 110 N. Commerce St., Portland, and Freebies Fireworks at 1450 N. Meridian St., Portland.
Total projects issued permits in June totaled $692,350.
