Philip L. Philebaum, 75, of Redkey, Indiana, passed away at 8:58 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018, at his residence while in the company of family members.
Phil was born in Portland, Indiana, on Jan. 1, 1942, a son of the late Leona (Mock) and Charles R. Philebaum. He was a 1962 graduate of Redkey High School and worked for General Motors as a press operator until his retirement in 1983. Phil also ran Philebaum Small Engine Repair in Redkey, Indiana.
He was the widower of Betty Sue Philebaum who he happily married on Feb. 23, 1963.
He was a member of Redkey Fun for Kids, Hillcrest Cemetery board, Redkey Lions Club and Redkey’s carnival board, and a former member of Redkey Town Council.
He enjoyed lawn mower repair, working in his garage, cars, Westerns, game shows, Indiana University and college basketball games, and listening to country music and the oldies.
Phil is survived by his girlfriend, Brenda Hale; two sons, Scott Philebaum (wife: Amanda) and Richie Philebaum; one daughter, Nicole Osborn (husband: Allen); eight grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Betty Sue.
Friends are invited to call Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel.
