Offer us facts rather than emotion
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
This is in response to Sheila Birsfield’s letter of Tuesday, May 29, 2018, headlined “Beware of wind farms in county.”
First is stated that residents “were never properly notified,” but it was never stated what the proper procedure would have been. I remember seeing the notices in The Commercial Review, about the meetings, so what was improper?
There was a lot said about a Facebook page and the traffic on the page. Who is it that has visited? Anyone, from anywhere in the world can visit a Facebook page, so what do your figures represent? The same is true about donations, which can come from anywhere in the world.
The wind energy industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, as is the agriculture industry that creates CFOs and CAFOs, as well as anti-green energy interests. That is an emotional ploy there, not one of any substance.
It was stated that “If you look at the independent research, you will learn that the close proximity to people’s homes has been proven to have a negative impact on property values, people’s health and quality of life,” but you cite no sources. What are these sources? My basic research has found nothing concerning these points, but pertains to aesthetics, not health and quality of life, or even property values.
It appears as though your claims are personal preferences, and not substantiated claims. If I am mistaken, please educate me, and the readership of The Commercial Review, and state particular articles, and how to locate them, so we can educate ourselves. This request includes all I have read about your group’s complaints, which has been offered in The Commercial Review, be it articles or letters. All which I have read concerning your complaints has appeared to be opinion, and stating no facts. Please, emotions and opinions won’t sway me from my full support for wind energy and wind farms, or solar farms, or any other green source of energy.
Personally, I’d rather live near a wind farm than a CFO or CAFO, as I believe the pollution from those farms would have a much more negative impact on quality of life, health and property value.
