Ted Fisher
David Ted Fisher, 75, of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 5, 2018, while in the company of family members at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, Albany, Indiana.
Ted was born in Portland, Indiana, on March 27, 1943, a son of the late Maxine D. Wright and David E. (Slim) Fisher. Ted was a 1963 graduate of Dunkirk High School and a dedicated mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Dunkirk, Indiana. He was a country man to the core who loved caring for his horses and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ted was a member of F&AM Lodge in Dunkirk, Indiana, a leader for Pack #214 of the Boy Scouts of America, played the drums for “Teddy & The Rough Riders” band, enjoyed powwows, participating in the “Living History” programs at local schools, working with his hands on leather work, making moccasins, dream catchers, reading, history, watching Westerns, “Gunsmoke,” John Wayne and listening to oldies music.
He is survived by four daughters, Stephanie R. Hicks (husband: Chad), Demara D. Whitney (husband: Mark), Heather D. Fisher and Jodie S. Fisher; one stepdaughter, Terri Huston (husband: Ben); one sister, Beverly R. Flowers (husband: Mike); seven grandchildren, Hannah Fuller (husband: Aaron), Calvin Whitney, Brooklyn Barnes (husband: Kris), Dakota Hicks, Cassie Schlagenhauf (husband: Kyle), Ciara Lovell and Kaylee Lovell; and three great grandchildren, Anderson Fuller, John Moses Fuller and Nyla Williamson.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon; one stepdaughter, Heidi Lovell (husband: Robert); and one grandson, Stephen Sain Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Dunkirk Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Laura High officiating. Burial will follow in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stephen Sain Memorial Scholarship through The Portland Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Dunkirk Chapel.
