Join library's summer challenge
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Did you know this year is the fourth annual Jay County Public Library Summer Challenge?
Since making this shift in format we have seen interest and participation grow.
This year’s Challenge officially opened last week and sign-up has exceeded our expectations. Already, nearly 500 Jay County residents have signed up to participate.
We set a goal this year for our collective group of patrons to read a million pages this summer.
If we exceed last year’s collective page total (736,000 pages), a donation will be made to Jay-Randolph Developmental Services.
If we reach a million, the donation goes higher.
Five hundred participants is not enough. I would like to invite all of you to consider joining the cause.
So what is required?
Come to the library (or give us a call) and sign up and then simply track how many pages you read (or listen to) through July 21. Then turn in your reading logs, and when you do so, you have the option to put your name in (you get tickets for pages read) for a chance to win one of 32 different raffle prizes. We have a variety of prizes that will appeal to people of all ages — it’s not just for kids.
Thanks to all who have gotten involved and I invite more of you to come on in and help us reach our goal this summer.
