Fort swimmers win opener

FORT RECOVERY — The Eels scored more points than Union City and Randolph County.

The host Fort Recovery Eels opened their 2018 summer swim season Tuesday with a commanding victory in a three-team meet. The Eels totaled 837 points, while Union City (375) and Randolph County (365) were left in the wake.
Cassy Martin (15-and-older) and Scotty Lennartz (8-and-younger) were the lone triple-event winners.
Dual winners were Kayden Ranly (8-and-younger), Autumn Leuthold (9-10-year-old), Makenna Huelskamp (9-10-year-old) and Alexis Bubp (15-and-older).
Those getting single victories were Gabe Acheson (9-10-year-old), Caleb Smith (9-10-year-old), Lucas Acheson (11-12-year-old), Kendall Ranly (8-and-younger), Eliza Smith (8-and-younger), Jesse Springer (9-10-year-old), Lana Schlarman (9-10-year-old), Joelle Kaup (11-12-year-old), Teigan Fortkamp (13-14-year-old) and Ava Bubp (15-and-older).
Optimist gets victory
Portland Optimist earned a 6-2 victory against Display Craft on Tuesday in Rookie softball action.
Bristol Brewster had four hits, including a double, for Optimist. Raylin Hummer tallied four singles and Alexa Ridenour recorded three singles. Evelyn Carter, Karlee Baxterand Alex Carrieto each had two hits.
Savanah Fields notched two doubles and a single for Display Craft, which also got three singles from Kendal Schemenaur.
Schemenaur leads
Drew Schemenaur led the Inman U-Loc offense on Tuesday as it knocked off PG-14 8-5 in a Willie Mays showdown.
Schemenaur hit two singles, scored twice and drove in three runs in the win. Lucas Strait doubled and scored twice, Grant Wendel singled with two runs and Nick Laux also had two runs.
Maddox Huffman hit a home run in the loss, adding a single and two runs. Leighton Brown contributed two runs and Landon Blowers scored once.
Pioneer winsclose one
Pioneer Packaging eked out a 13-12 win against Williams Auto Parts on Tuesday in Rookie baseball competition.
Rayden Sollars had two doubles, a pair of singles and four RBIs to lead Pioneer, which also got four singles from Bentley Comer and three singles apiece from Dougie Cox, Dillon Jellisonand Alex Huntsman. Samuel Wiggins contributed three RBIs to the winning effort.
Williams stats were not provided.
All-Circuit tops Barnett’s
In Rookie baseball action Tuesday, All-Circuit Electrical topped Barnett’s Auto Parts 5-1.
Bryor Garringer was 3-for-3 with two runs for All-Circuit. Logan Wendel, Jaxson Dehoff, Kohen Stevens and Shawn Harrell had two hits apiece. Wendel and Harrell added runs.
Kendal Hartzell and Varen Ridgway each had hits for Barnett’s. Hartzell tallied a run as well.
