John and Sherry Welker
John and Sherry Welker are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.
They were married on June 15, 1968, at the Methodist Church in Spartanburg with Pastor Lamar Imes receiving their vows.
Sherry is employed by the Jay School Corporation as a nurse at Bloomfield Elementary School.
John retired as a mechanic and is a longtime musician in various local bands.
The couple are the parents of two daughters, Valerie (husband: Rex) Fifer, Yorktown, and Heather (husband: Doug) Jefferis, Union City. They also have eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
They celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Hawaii in April.
