Sunday tour
If you’ve ever wanted to get a handle on the details of the Indian battles at Fort Recovery, Sunday is your chance.
John Winkler, author of Wabash 1791, will be back in Fort Recovery to take participants on a two-hour walking tour of the battlefield of the 1791 massacre.
This was the battle where Arthur St. Clair's Army suffered a disastrous defeat at the hands of a highly skilled Indian confederation led by Little Turtle of the Miamis and Blue Jacket of the Shawnees.
This was the worst defeat of the United States Army, the event that was a watershed moment in US History.
Tour participants will be walking familiar streets of the village while Winkler takes them back in time to share details of the battle.
The tour is free for patrons of the Fort Recovery State Museum.
For the general public, there is a $10 per person fee.
The tour begins at noon and concludes at 2 p.m.
