A special program is coming up at Jay County Public Library.
Learn to loom knit will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17. This program is for anyone who may not be able to knit with needles or wants to learn the basics of using a knitting loom. A dishcloth will be made to take home. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
The cookbook club will meet at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, March 12, in the Community Room with the theme DIY Greek Yogurt. Laura Reese will demonstrate how to make Greek yogurt in a slow cooker that is healthier, less expensive and contains more probiotics than store bought. She will also have some for sampling.
Other clubs meeting this month will include JayCPL Book Club at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19. The book “Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterly will be discussed.
Friends of the Library will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20. Everyone is welcome to come at 6 p.m. to help fold AprilNewsnotes .
Writers Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26. The club will continue its short storyghost writing challenge.
Hook & Needles Club will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27. Bring a project to work on or learn how to crochet from other crafters.
Regular activities continue in March at JCPL.
Lego Free Build will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. today and again on Thursday, March 8, 15 and 22.
Mother Goose & Me will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday and again on March 9, 16 and 23.
Story & Fun Time will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 12 and 19 and at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 13 and 20
For those not planning a trip this spring break, kids can still have fun with daily activities at the library.
Learn origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, anytime from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 26.
Kids can play with K’nex, Legos, Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27.
The fun continues with Movie Mania on Wednesday, March 28. “Hop” will be shown at 1 p.m. and Disney’s “Coco” will play at 6 p.m. Popcorn will be served. Children younger than 10 should be accompanied by an adult.
Duplo and Lego bricks will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 29.
The week wraps up with Puppet Palooza on Friday. Create a puppet using provided materials between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and then put a puppet show on in the puppet theatre.
There will also be a spring bunny scavenger hunt all week.
Books given to the library recently by Debbie Shreeve include “Sapphire Ice,” “Greater Than Rubies,” “Emerald Fire,” “Topaz Heat,” “Christmas Diamonds,” and “Christmas Star Sapphire,” all by Hallee Bridgeman.
Firefly Books, which have been nominated for the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award, are on display at the library and children younger than five and their parents are encouraged to vote for their favorite one.
With the tax deadline on the horizon, federal tax forms 1040 and 1040EZ and 1040 booklets are available at the library.Also state IT-40 forms and booklets are available.
