Larry Journay

Larry Journay, age 77, a resident of Portland, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at his home. 

Larry was born on Sept. 27, 1940, in Jay County, Indiana, the son of Robert and Mary “Sal” (Miller) Journay. He graduated from Portland High School in 1958. Larry married Judy Emery in 1961 and she passed away 2002. He retired from Portland Forge in 2009 after 47 years of service. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Survivors include:

Two sons — Roger Journay (wife: Renay), Berne, Indiana, and Max Journay, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky 

Five grandchildren

Three great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Larry Eads will officiate, and burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery in Portland. 

Memorials may be directed to the Jay County Cancer Society.
