Martha Betz

Martha Nell Betz, age 91, of Portland, passed away Wednesday morning at IU Health Jay.

She was born in Portland on March 4, 1927, the daughter of Lewis and Iris (Banta) Stone. She was married to William J. Betz and he died in 2004. She was a homemaker and seamstress and had worked at Jay Garment. She was a Madison Township High School graduate.

Surviving are a son, Charles H. Betz (wife: Debi) of Japan; a daughter, Diana Trobridge (husband: Mike) of Portland; three grandchildren, Brad Trobridge (wife: Maria Stahl) of Americus, Georgia, Carla K. Trobridge (wife: Kathy Boggs) of Leesburg, Indiana, and Teal Strabbing (husband: Zac) of Bloomington, Indiana; one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Trobridge Bolch of Americus, Georgia; and one great-great-grandchild, Aden Jones of Americus, Georgia.

Private family services were held in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with burial in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant. Memorials can be made to Jay County Cancer Society.
