Lavine Schwartzkopf, age 83, of Portland, passed away Saturday morning in Waters Edge Village in Muncie.
He was born in Hartford City on Oct. 23, 1934, the son of Elmer and Pearl (Johnson) Schwartzkopf. He was married May 10, 1956, to Janet Baldauf who survives. He was an Amish hauler and worked for Lyons Construction, Maitlen Motors and First National Bank. He was a member of Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association and Portland Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife Janet; one son, Terry Schwartzkopf of Portland; one daughter, Becky Schwartzkopf of Portland; two brothers, Kenneth Schwartzkopf of Indianapolis and Jim Schwartzkopf of Muncie; two step-grandchildren; and several step great and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Herb Hummel presiding. Burial will be in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
