Dorothy Fields
June 6, 1929-March 3, 2018
Dorothy Mae Habgood Fields, 88, died at her home in Bedford, Texas, on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Dorothy was born in Marion, Indiana, on June 6, 1929, to Albert and Elsie Habgood. She attended Portland High School and was part of the 1947 graduating class. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart Floyd Fields Jr. They were married on July 31, 1949.
Dorothy had a love for nature and beauty. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to their five children. Dorothy was an incredibly loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was also an avid gardener and loved to read.
After investing in her children as a stay-at-home mom, she chose to work for the Hurst Public Library and continued there for 16 years. Reading was one of her great passions, and as a librarian she delighted in sharing her love of books with others, as well as the fellowship she enjoyed with her coworkers.
Dorothy is survived by her five children, Sandra Knowlton of Midlothian, Texas, Bruce and Cheryl Fields of DeSoto, Missouri, Norman Fields of Bedford, Texas, Elizabeth and Richard Fielder of Bedford, Texas, and Paul Fields and Antonia Smillova of West Palm Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert and Cinda Habgood of Bedford, Texas, and one niece and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Floyd.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the staff at Envoy Hospice.
A private family celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at a later date.
