POET expansion tops building permits

An expansion at POET Biorefining-Portland was at the top of the list of Jay County’s building permits in February.
The $2.85 million project involves a new fermentor building addition and a fermentor tank.
Double L Farms Inc.was issued a permit for a $500,000 grain bin, grain leg, and control building at 8711 N. 550 West.
Other permits issued in January and February include those issued to James Lochtefeld for a $150,000 shop building at 7900 E. 800 South, Double D Ag Enterprises for a $175,000 machine shop and storage building at 7782 W. 50 South and a $35,000 building reconstruction project at 7782 S. 50 West, Luann S. Ford for a $9,000 bar addition at 2761 N. U.S. 27, Daniel S. Schwartz for a $12,500 pond in the 400 East mile of 500 North, Rita Rouch for a $2,000 roof change at 532 N. Western Ave., Portland, and Jeffrey A. Fisher for a $208,000 home at 1451 N. 350 West.
Also to James Lochtefeld for a $20,000 in-ground pool at 7900 E. 800 South, Tom and Kristina Kuhn for a $4,200 storage building at 108 Meridian Heights, Portland, Doug Somers for a $33,000 storage building at 8682 E. Division Road, David Peters for a $15,000 storage building at 3621 S. 200 West, and Will Goodrich and Red Dragon Gaming LLC for a $1,500 building entrance and steps at 122 E. McNeil St., Portland.

Total projects issued permits in the first two months of 2018 totaled $3,497,400.
