Wagners will discuss tornado experience

The first program meeting of the year will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Jay County Historical Society Museum. The topic will be “An Inside Look at the November 5th Tornado.” 

Casey and Jenny Wagner will speak about being trapped in their hog barns during the tornado.

Also Jay County emergency management director Ralph Frazee will discuss the widespread damage to the county.  

The museum is located at 903 E. Main St. in Portland. 



At Bloomfield

Fifth grade students at Bloomfield Elementary are joining the fight against hunger.

Beginning Monday through March 23, students are asked to bring in items for the local food bank or $1 donations for the Feed My Starving Children project to be held on April 7 at Jay County High School. 

For each item or $1 donated, children can choose a healthy snack for themselves. 

The event at Bloomfield is part of The Portland Foundation’s Care & Share Program whose theme this year is ‘Fighting hunger in our school, in our community and the whole world.’
