Arts Center to celebrate anniversary

Arts Place will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Blackford County Arts Center.
The event is free and will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 7, at the center at 107 W. Washington St. in Hartford City.
There will be live music, refreshments and an opening reception for the Alcove artists’ exhibit “Stepping Out.” The exhibit will be on display until April 27.
The Blackford County Arts Center was formed with more than $100,000 in private donations, investments by the Blackford County Commissioners and the city and was dedicated in 2013.
The center offers MusicWorks and ArtWorks programs and Arts in the Parks classes in the summer. It is open Monday through Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Tuesday.
Pressure checks
Mercer Health will offer free blood pressure screenings and colorectal screening kits from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 403 Sharpsburg Road in Fort Recovery.
