Ruby Elliot

Ruby C. Elliott, age 74, a resident of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a former Portland resident. 

Ruby was born in Portland on Dec. 12, 1943, the daughter of Pete and Cleo H. (Brenner) Irelan. She attended Dunkirk High School and graduated from Oscado High School in Oscado, Michigan. She worked for Portland Box Company from 1981 to 1985. Ruby married Vernon Elliott on March 2, 1968, and he passed away on Dec. 21, 2010. 

Survivors include:

Two sons — Charles Dean Parfitt (wife: Ailene), Loogootee, Indiana, Mark Elliott, Loogootee, Indiana

One daughter — Renee Ullom (companion: Craig Eley), Bryant, Indiana 

Three brothers — James Irelan, Scott, Michigan, Jerry Irelan, Portland, Indiana, and Joseph Huey, Pennsylvania 

One sister-in-law — Joan Perkins, Eaton, Indiana 

Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Paula Hunnicutt will officiate and burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
