John Holly

John Charles Holly, age 100, a resident of rural Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Crown Pointe in Portland.
John was born April 18, 1918, in rural Portland, the son of Emerson and Mary Olive (Offhill ) Holly. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was aboard the USS Missouri on Sept. 2, 1945, during the signing of the treaty to end World War II. He retired from Astral Casket Company in Lynn in 2003 and farmed for many years in Randolph County. John was a member of the Ridgeville American Legion post #507, and attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville.
John married Faye Lanning in 1942 she passed away on Sept. 25, 2000.
Survivors include:
One son: Allan Holly (wife: Pam), Ridgeville, Indiana
One daughter: Joyce Outcalt (husband: Dave), Ridgeville, Indiana
One brother: Leonard Holly, Muncie, Indiana
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Grandchildren, including Angela Effing, Holly Taylorand Tyler Holly, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Williamson and Spencer funeral home in Portland
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Williamson and Spencer funeral home in Portland. The Rev. Jonathan Edwards will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice.
