Jack Batt

Feb. 2, 1950-April 29, 2018

Jack Batt, age 68, a resident of rural Portland, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Centre with his family at his side. He had battled dementia for many years.

Jack was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was the founder and owner of Flamespray in Portland for 23 years and retired in 2011. He was a graduate of Muncie Southside High School and a veteran of the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of the Portland Eagles Lodge and an accomplished drag racer. An avid sports fan, he loved college basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball and Indianapolis Colts football.

Jack Batt was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Virgil and Lucille (Garret) Batt. He was married on Aug. 28, 1982, to Kristie McKinley.

His beloved wife — Kristie McKinley Batt, Portland

Two sons — Christopher Batt, Muncie, and Matthew Wood, Portland

His mother — Lucille Batt, Muncie

Two brothers — Larry Batt (wife: Sherry), Gaston, and Donald Batt (wife: Kim), Muncie

One sister — Linda Crow (husband: George), Muncie

Two grandchildren — Cera and Alex Batt

Two step-grandchildren — Nicholas Seter and Cameron Castillo

Private memorial services will be held for the family in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
