Roberta Myers

Roberta Garringer Wallace Myers, age 92, of Portland, passed away Wednesday afternoon in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare.

She was born Feb. 12, 1926, the daughter of Benjamin and Bessie (Miller) Garringer. She graduated in 1944 from Jackson High School in Randolph County. She married on Oct. 1, 1945, to Daniel Wallace and he died June 28, 2004. She married Fred Myers in 2005 and he passed away in 2011. She worked for Jay School Corporation as a library aid for 20 years and also had worked at several factories, private homes, stores and restaurants. She was a member of Collett Nazarene Church and attended First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one son, Darrell “Pat” Wallace (wife: Janet Matchett) of Fort Wayne; one grandson, Robert Scott Wallace (wife: Genny) of Henryville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Jane Garringer in 1967 at the age of 20.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Rogers Durham presiding. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 2 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Collett Nazarene Church or First Presbyterian Church.
